I removed two stars because of the lack of attention when packing orders to go. If you're ordering online, don't expect a complete order; this has happened to us already more than a few times, this is concerning and takes away the joy from eating a good dinner.
I'm being respectful enough to leave my original review below because we do love their food but the staff at Sabor A Peru has really got to take packing their orders more seriously. It is extremely aggravating to continue to receive the wrong order or missing items from your order after you have paid in full.
Original Review:
We loved our visit to this restaurant, the food was absolutely delicious (please tell the cook never to leave) and the atmosphere is festive and a complete delight (check out my pictures). This is a family owned business and they're doing a great service for the community. The facility is well kept and very clean. I also love being able to look inside the kitchen. We found our new (and likely only) go-to Peruvian restaurant.
Delicious authentic food. Waiters are very hospitable. The place is very clean. Quality of food is worth the price. Highly recommend.
I came here twice for dinner, and I was happy each time. The flavors are dynamic, and the food is always fresh. Hot dishes come out hot and cold dishes come out fresh. I had ceviche each time and it was close to what I've experienced in Miami. I don't have pictures from my first visit, which included an amazing chaufa, but the surf and turf special was fantastic.
Recommendations: try to speak at least a little Spanish for every business in this area. It'll make your life a lot easier.
The place looks great, with nice, spacious seating. The ceviche was great, I enjoyed it a lot. However, the chicken quality was not good, the chaofan was salty and the Lomo was overwhelming with fries and rice and lacking severely in meat not to mention we ordered fish and steak Lomo. It was so cold inside our food got cold quickly. We were a party of 4 and everything came all at once. We kept our jackets on the whole time. Very disappointing since we asked to turn on the heating 3 times. Plus they charged 15% gratuity but didn't provide a great service for price given our bill. Definitely don't recommend but appreciated the company we had.
Food and service was excellent. Loved the house ceviche, and the skirt steak with "green" noodles (a creamy pesto) was also a favorite.
It was my first time here and I ordered the breakfast pork sandwich, it was absolutely amazing and would definitely go back. The atmosphere was wonderful as well and so was the service.
The place was good, food had great presentation,i would like to have the portion a bit larger.i got steak with pasta with guancaina sauce,my girlfriend had the lomo salteado.the turn off is the 15 % service fee,but then ,they "suggest"on the check to leave tip, very confusing,at the end,we tip 20%, so if you add up the SVC fee and the tip,we total 35,% tip.piece of advice: food is great, you ruin the experience doing that.i like the food, but i hate the whole confusing SVC fee/ tipping
First time at Sabor a Peru. I am peruvian and I must say that the food here is the BEST I have ever had in NJ. Having a couple of other peruvian restaurants very close to this location I was wondering what competition would be like for this …
